Project Manager

FGI currently has an opening for a Project Manager to work in our Chapel Hill, NC office.

Essential functions:

Responsible for the management of all aspects of custom and/or syndicated market research projects.  Specifically, the selected candidate will work with our sales team and clients to develop the project methodology, questionnaires, schedules, oversee the execution of fieldwork, and coordinate with all other departments to deliver final deliverable to the client.

The Project Manager will be responsible for the absolute quality of the project, and responsible for our clients’ customer service.  The selected candidate will work in a high energy, fast paced cross-functional team environment, where leadership and commitment are keys to success, and may be responsible for assisting in developing questionnaires, recommending best practices for data collection methodology, and writing descriptive analysis of the findings of the study.

The selected candidate will have experience in securing new research clients, as well as setting and meeting budgets.

Education, Experience, and Skills Required:

  • BA/BS degree or 5+ years experience in job-related area
  • Market research experience is required
  • Minimum 2 years project management experience
  • Experience in a cross-functional team environment
  • Proposal writing
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills

Education, Experience and Skills Preferred:

  • Familiarity with online surveys and data tabulation output
  • Direct revenue and profit responsibility
  • Experience in media measurement, life and/or health insurance, public opinion, customer satisfaction, or telecommunications research
  • Experience with multiple research methods as applied to both consumer and business samples—including telephone, mail, or Internet based applications
  • Experience with TQM applications and practices
  • Report and presentation experience

Sales Position

Qualified candidate will have:

  • Proven track record of generating $500k to 1MM+ in annual new business. At the outset, candidates must provide compensation history/requirements, W-2 proof of wages, and actual vs. quota sales performance for prior 3 years.
  • Extensive experience selling full service, custom research solutions and services. Experience selling custom panel solutions is preferred.
  • Can provide examples of their consultative, needs-based selling approach. Can demonstrate in person.
  • Can provide examples of their proposals and presentations (can be redacted for confidentiality reasons).
  • Can present their specific plans and recommendations for reaching their sales goals at FGI. Presentations are made to the senior management team.
  • Can complete extensive interview process and thorough personality/aptitude testing to confirm fit with company.
  • Have strong desire to work in tight-knit and highly collaborative team environment that has earned the “Best Places to Work Award” in 2011.

Sales objectives:

  • Focus exclusively on new prospects and new client relationships (first 12 months). All revenue from newly acquired clients is commissionable for the first 12 months.
  • Sell $500k-$750k in year one; $750k-$1MM in year two.
  • Sell custom research, data collection, and research “platforms” including custom online panels, online communities, and social media mining.

Sales support includes:

  • Direct sales support and involvement from CEO and other senior personnel on every promising sales opportunity.
  • Proposal and ideation support from operations and technical personnel.
  • National territory with very few restrictions or limitations.
  • Inbound (Hubspot) and outbound (email) lead generation support.
  • Thousands of target prospects in our SalesForce database, including 10,000+ with MR-related titles and tens of thousands more with other titles across all target verticals/industries.
  • Exceptional track record of client satisfaction and retention. Our clients love our work and enjoy the relationship.
  • Compelling and competitive suite of solutions and services. Flexibility to innovate and add features/functions/capabilities as appropriate.
  • Experienced project managers are assigned to all new accounts. Additional senior support provide as appropriate based on ability/desire of the sales person to continue active management of new accounts.

CRM (Client Relationship Manager)

Description: The “CRM” is the most senior client leader at FGI Research. As such, their primary responsibility or majority of time is sales/client service and business development. May also conduct project after it is sold, but primary responsibility is sales/client service.

Primary goal: grow and maintain a profitable, consistent and satisfied portfolio of client revenue from $1.5 to 2 million annually (5-10 clients).

Primary activities: client management, co-design of research objectives/approach, co-development and co-presentation of reports/recommendations, co-development of proposals (for new and existing clients), new business development calls, meetings and on-site visits/travel (working with business development team).

Key departments for collaboration: business development, marketing science, and research operations.

Supervisory responsibilities: Responsible for project managers and project coordinators only while they are assigned to their accounts.

Reports to: CEO.

Education: Bachelors Degree (Masters Preferred).

Experience: 8+ years industry experience.
